Patient care



Full spectrum of patient care for oncology patients seen in Cancercare; Ward care; After hours calls

As a professional all services delivered needs to be in line with the Cancercare Values, of CARE. New patients




Recruiting new referrals See patient/make treatment decisions Patients on treatment

Radiotherapy planning



Deciding on treatment Delineating volumes Approving RT plans Treatment checks Weekly plan meetings Patients on treatment seen weekly by clinical and radiation oncologist or by medical officer Plan discussion of all new pt on treatment

Ward hospital care




See every patient in ward daily by self or colleagues

Follow up patient care




See high risk FU only FU after initial treatment Evaluate outcome Re-referral back to community care or for combined sharing of FU with surgeon

Chemotherapy Visits



See patient on chemo therapy Sign for continue of chemo Evaluate blood counts and treatment toxicity + PS Pt ready for chemo therapy in chemo rooms Evaluate toxicity and outcome

Admin Task




Communication with referring doctors and GP's SAOC/ ICON completion Special motivation to funders etc Unit meetings Checking results Completion of insurance and medico-legal reports Cancercare communication Discus at unit level monthly profitability

Combined Clinics



Combined clinics Expanding sphere of influence CME

Medical meetings




Industry meetings CME

After hour calls




Be available for after hour emergencies and see patients in ward


Required minimum education:





MB ChB MMed or equivalent


Required minimum experience:





Completed post graduate training


Required minimum work-related experience:





4 years after initial degree
