The REFINE Study (ImpRoving outcomEs of inFants, childreN, and AdolEscents with HIV) is a participatory, community-engaged research initiative aimed at improving HIV care outcomes for children
and adolescents in South Africa. The CRA will support recruitment, enrolment, data collection, follow-up
and psychosocial interventions in line with the protocol. The role will involve working in Department of Health (DoH) facilities and engaging with adolescents, caregivers, and healthcare workers in both urban
and rural sites.

Recruit and enrol study participants from designated clinic catchment areas. Conduct informed consent/assent procedures. Facilitate individual interviews, focus groups and follow-up visits. Support psychosocial components of the behavioural peer-support intervention. Collect, enter and validate data (e.g., REDCap, CRFs). Liaise with nurses, doctors and community stakeholders. Support feasibility activities around microarray patches (MAPs) for ART delivery. Ensure adherence to study protocol and SOPs. Participate in training and regular study meetings. Facilitate health promotion and educational sessions where applicable.
Requirements of the Job and Minimum Qualifications
1. Grade 12 / Matric
2. Basic HIV Counselling and Adherence Counselling Certificates
3. Computer literacy (MS Office, REDCap, Tablets, Apps)
4. Valid South African driver's license
5. Resident of the study's catchment area
Minimum Experience 1.
1.1-2 years' experience in community-based or clinical research
2. Participant tracking, data collection, and informed consent procedures
3. Familiarity with HIV prevention, treatment and youth health services
Skills Required
1. Verbal and written fluency in English and isiZulu
2. Strong interpersonal and counselling skills
3. Accuracy, precision, and attention to detail
4. Ability to work independently and under pressure
5. Organised, ethical, and committed to participant well-being
