Job Description

To unpack, sort, check, shelve and process library materials.
Key Responsibility Areas

  • Receives and processes deliveries of library materials from suppliers.
  • Undertakes physical processing of new and old library materials.
  • Prepares spine labels using the computer/electronic typewriter to generate adhesive spine
labels.
  • Responsible for providing assistance in shelving books, supplying requests and weeding of
discarded material from Reserve stock.
  • Records details of books to be sent for binding and rebinding.
  • Undertakes clerical duties i.e. stock requisitions, photocopying, faxing and filing.
  • Undertakes relevant book repairing activities.
  • Assists in training new staff in procedures and routines.

Essential Requirements
  • Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) or equivalent.
  • 3 Months relevant experience.
