A leading financial services company based in Umhlanga is seeking a Claims Specialist to join their team. Our expertise lies in building claims, with a core focus on consistently exceeding customer expectations, ensuring compliance with regulations, and driving the timeous settlement of claims while applying sound risk management principles.
Description
Policy Administration
Handle client queries, policy amendments, and complaints resolution.
Ensure fair customer treatment with accurate interpretation of reported incidents, claims history, and application of policy wording.
Claims Processing
Authorize claims within mandate and resolve within agreed productivity targets and turnaround times using the claims diary system.
Apply technical skills and resolve technical issues using available tools and systems.
Manage and resolve customer complaints professionally while maintaining compliance with claims handling regulations.
Assess claims fairly, including rejections, ensuring all decisions align with regulatory frameworks.
Accurately apply rates, authorize payments, and appoint appropriate service providers.
Engage with customers, loss adjusters, and service providers professionally and assertively, ensuring clear and constructive communication.
Investigate and report any suspicious or fraudulent activity for escalation.
Liaise with specialist service providers (e.g., engineers) where required.
Education Profile
Minimum Education Qualification
Matric (Essential)
Preferred: Insurance-related qualifications (e.g., FETC: Short Term Insurance NQF 4, RE5)
Minimum Experience
Minimum 4 years Claims experience - preferably in Homeowners / Building Claims
Preferred: 5 years Short Term Insurance Claims experience
Competencies & Attributes
Strong investigative and analytical mindset
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Ability to remain calm, professional, and assertive when dealing with difficult customers
Customer-centric approach with a commitment to treating customers fairly
Technical knowledge of building and homeowners insurance claims
