CIVIL ENGINEER ROADS/TRANSPORT

7. Scope of Work:

A Civil Engineer (Roads/Transport) specializing in stormwater and pipelines designs, plans, and oversees the construction and maintenance of infrastructure related to roads, stormwater management, and pipelines. This includes designing drainage systems, ensuring adequate water flow, and managing underground utilities like water and sewer lines.

8. Key Responsibilities:

Develop detailed designs for stormwater management systems, including drainage structures, culverts, and channels, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

Oversee the construction of road and pipeline projects, ensuring they adhere to design specifications and safety standards.

Plan and supervise maintenance activities for existing stormwater systems and pipelines, including inspections, cleaning, and repairs.

Address issues related to flooding, erosion, and pipeline damage, developing effective solutions and implementing corrective measures.

Manage the scope, schedule, and budget of projects related to roads, stormwater, and pipelines.

Work with other engineers, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.

Stay up to date on the latest technologies and best practices in stormwater management and pipeline engineering.

9. Qualifications and Experience:

BSc/BTech in Engineering

Minimum of 10 years' experience in road construction projects, Pipelines and Storm water.

Professional Registration - PR Engineering, PR CM or PR CPM

Extensive experience with FIDIC contracts and knowledge of COTO specifications.

Familiarity with Construction Procurement Guidelines (CPG).

Proven track record in managing cost control, claims, and contractual obligations.

Strong knowledge of road construction, Stormwater systems, pipelines, and drainage structures.

Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Proficiency in cost estimation software and MS Office Suite.

Proficiency in CCS software, BuildSmart, model maker software.

10. Reporting Line:

The Civil Engineer (Roads/Transport) will report to the Site Design Lead.

11. Performance Indicators:

Project Completion Time:

Measure the time taken to complete projects against planned schedules, ensuring projects are delivered on time.

Adherence to Safety Regulations:

Track the number and severity of safety incidents on projects, ensuring a safe working environment for all personnel.

Budget Management:

Monitor project costs against planned budgets, ensuring projects are completed within allocated financial resources.

System Performance:

Evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of stormwater management systems and pipeline networks, such as flow rates, water quality, and system capacity.

Sustainability:

Assess the environmental impact of projects, such as stormwater runoff, energy consumption, and material usage.

Customer Satisfaction:

Gather feedback from residents and stakeholders to assess satisfaction with project outcomes and system performance.

12. Health, Safety, and Compliance:

Ensure procurement practices align with HSE regulations and sustainability principles.

Maintain ethical procurement practices and prevent conflicts of interest.
