Job Description

Imperium Commodity Search is working with a fast-growing metals and ores trading house headquartered in South Africa. We are looking for an experienced Trader covering minor/base metal ores/concentrates to join their South Africa or Singapore team. This position will primarily focus around the onboarding of new suppliers for the sourcing of chrome ore/concentrates and ferrochrome/manganese for sale into the Asian market.
Responsibilities:

• Build relationships with mines in South Africa and surrounding regions for the procurement and sourcing of chrome ore, ferrocrhome, manganese etc.
• Maintain close relationships with senior management at relevant chrome mines and suppliers
• Assist in the sale/trade flows of sourced chrome ore, manganese and ferrochrome
• Leverage on existing relationships with smelters in the target sales region and drive desk PnL through smart off take agreements and sourcing practices
• Keep connected with the relevant metals markets and capitalise on market movements for the timely execution of chrome ore, concentrates, manganese and ferrochrome purchases/supply agreements whilst keeping an ear to the ground for sales side opportunities
• Work with senior management on new products, trade flows and geographies

Experience:

• 5 or more years' experience in a chrome ore/concentrates procurement or sourcing position
• Good commercial background and negotiations experience
• Excellent knowledge of the mining industry in South Africa and surrounding region
• Book of contacts and network in the chrome ore space
• Good knowledge and understanding of chrome ore, concentrates and manganese
• Desire to join a rapidly growing trading desks and drive PnL forward
• Good affinity with the South African market
