Job Description

A leading organization in the logistics and freight sector is seeking a commercially astute and strategically minded Chief Financial Officer to take ownership of the financial engine across South Africa and Namibia.
This is a high-impact leadership role for a CFO who enjoys operating in a fast-moving, operational environment and wants to play a pivotal role in shaping business strategy, managing risk, and accelerating profitability across borders.
Based in Johannesburg East, this multinational logistics business operates at scale and complexity, requiring a CFO who is confident partnering with executive leadership, influencing decision-making, and driving financial excellence in a dynamic, growth-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive and execute the financial strategy, advising executive leadership on performance, risk, and growth initiatives.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning across multiple regions.
  • Oversee financial reporting, consolidations, governance, compliance, and audit alignment.
  • Manage cash flow, working capital, treasury, and financial risk mitigation.
  • Partner with operations and commercial teams to optimise margins, control costs, and support strategic projects.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team, while supporting group-level initiatives and reporting.
Job Experience and Skills Required:
  • Registered CA(SA) (non-negotiable).
  • Proven experience within the courier, freight, or logistics industry (essential).
  • Minimum 10 years' experience leading a finance department, with at least 5 years in senior leadership.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen with in-depth taxation and statutory compliance knowledge (South Africa and neighbouring countries).
  • Solid understanding of imports, exports, customs duties, and cross-border operations.
  • Demonstrated experience in financial system implementations and optimisation.
  • Ability to influence, communicate, and negotiate at executive and board level.
  • Advanced MS Excel proficiency.
