Key Roles and Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Planning and Management
Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with the groups long-term objectives.
Provide financial input into overall business strategy and ensure alignment across subsidiaries.
Lead financial planning and forecasting processes at both group and subsidiary levels.
Financial Reporting and Compliance
Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports (monthly, quarterly, annual).
Ensure full compliance with IFRS and maintain proper accounting records for each entity.
Manage and coordinate external audit processes; ensure clean audit outcomes.
Oversee internal audit functions and ensure high standards of financial integrity.
Risk Management and Internal Controls
Identify, monitor, and mitigate financial risks across the group.
Develop a strong internal control environment to protect company assets.
Conduct risk assessments and drive corrective actions as needed.
Treasury and Cash Flow Management
Manage the groups cash flow, liquidity, and capital requirements.
Oversee treasury operations, including bank relationships, funding facilities, and investments.
Ensure effective and efficient cash management for operational and strategic needs.
Budgeting and Cost Control
Lead group-wide budgeting processes and ensure effective allocation of resources.
Monitor and analyse budget variances and drive cost-saving initiatives.
Provide data-driven insights to support financial efficiency and decision-making.
Financial Analysis and Decision Support
Deliver financial analysis to guide business decisions and strategic investments.
Evaluate mergers, acquisitions, and investment opportunities.
Advise the CEO, MD, and board with financial modelling and insights.
Stakeholder and Investor Relations
Serve as the primary financial liaison with investors, banks, and key stakeholders.
Communicate financial performance, forecasts, and strategies clearly and effectively.
Support fundraising and investor engagement activities as needed.
Taxation and Regulatory Compliance
Oversee group tax strategy and ensure full compliance with South African tax laws.
Optimize the groups tax position while managing associated risks.
Ensure adherence to sector-specific regulations and reporting standards.
Technology and Systems Management
Implement and optimize financial systems and tools to drive efficiency.
Align finance technology infrastructure with overall ICT strategy.
Collaborate with the ICT team to ensure seamless system integration and performance.
Team Leadership and Development
Lead and mentor finance professionals across all subsidiaries.
Cultivate a high-performance, learning-focused finance culture.
Oversee recruitment, training, and retention of top-tier financial talent.
Sustainability and ESG Initiatives
Embed sustainable financial practices across the group.
Align finance strategy with the groups ESG goals.
Prepare and present Sustainability Reports and financial implications of ESG performance.
Corporate Governance and Board Support
Uphold corporate governance principles throughout the group.
Present financial reports and strategic insights at board and committee meetings.
Report directly to the Board Audit Committee as appointed by The Company.
Educational & Experience Requirements
Bachelors Degree in Financial Management or Accounting.
Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA), preferably from one of the Big Five firms.
MBA is advantageous.
Minimum of 8+ years post-qualification experience.
Industry experience in ICT, Banking, or Insurance is preferred.
Demonstrated leadership capabilities with a hands-on approach.
Strong knowledge of IFRS, tax compliance, and financial regulations.
Proven experience in financial strategy development and operational finance.
Skilled in budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling, and stakeholder communication.
Exposure to multi-national financial operations is essential.
