Muslim Hands SA is seeking an enthusiastic and passionate individual strategic leader to lead the organization through this exciting period of growth and change. The successful candidate will be responsible to the Board of Directors but will be line-managed by the Chairman, on behalf of the Board. Summary of Responsibilities as a CEO: xc2xb7 Provide leadership to the organization and be responsible for the management and administration of the organization within the strategic, policy, and accountability frameworks laid down by the Board. xc2xb7 Together with the Chair, to enable the Board to fulfil its duties and responsibilities for the governance of the charity, and to ensure that the Board receives timely advice and appropriate information on all relevant matters. xc2xb7 Maintain robust financial controls, monitoring and evaluation processes, systems, and appropriate policies across the organization. xc2xb7 Ensure effective teamwork and a culture of professionalism, learning, and development. Specific Responsibilities Leadership 1. Lead the review and development of a medium-to-long-term strategy for the organization in line with the organizationxe2x80x99s objectives, vision, and mission, and obtain the approval of the Board. 2. Develop the work of the charity to achieve the agreed strategic plan and its objectives, vision, and mission and thus ensure that the charity is focused on achieving its strategic priorities. 3. Ensure that the charityxe2x80x99s values, ethos, and policies are relevant, fair, and consistently implemented. 4. Develop the organization so that it is constantly seeking ways to learn and improve its performance. 5. Develop and maintain an environment that attracts and retains the best staff and volunteers. 6. Ability to develop and implement clear and concise growth strategies. Management 1. To be accountable to the Board for the proper and effective management of the organization. 2. Run the charity efficiently and effectively by ensuring that the charity has appropriate management structures and management systems to fulfil its strategic objectives and carry out its work. 3. Ensure that business, operational, and annual plans that underpin the strategic plan are developed, agreed, and implemented. 4. Identify appropriate methods for monitoring the performance of the organization and report back to the Directors on the performance of the charity against its strategy, its business, operational and annual plans, and the annual budget, as approved by the Board. 5. Ensure that the recruitment, management, training, and development of staff reflect good employment practices and are directed towards achieving the organizationxe2x80x99s objectives. 6. Ensure that the organization is aware of best practices and that it constantly works to achieve this within the constraints laid down by the Directors and available resources. Finance 1. To be responsible overall for the financial health of the charity including developing, overseeing, and monitoring an effective fundraising plan for income generation. 2. Oversee and support the organizationxe2x80x99s annual budgetary planning. Ensure effective models and tools are in place to enable planning and budget management at all levels. 3. Oversee both internal monitoring and evaluation processes and external auditing processes and carry out internal checks and audits, as and when needed. 4. Assist senior management/the Board in preparing and ensuring annual audited accounts are instructed. 5. Ensure that the major risks to which the charity is exposed are reviewed regularly by the Board and the executive team and that systems have been established to mitigate these risks. Ensure risk analysis is automatically carried out when taking on new work or proposing new work to the Board. 6. Maintain effective mechanisms to ensure the robustness of external and internal controls in the organization. Governance 1. Draw the Boardxe2x80x99s attention to matters that should be considered and decided upon. 2. Ensure that the charity fulfils all its legal, statutory, and regulatory responsibilities. 3. Ensure that the Board receives all necessary advice, guidance, and information on matters relating to current performance, regulatory and legal compliance, and other appropriate issues. 4. Ensure that staff understand and support the governance role of the Board and that there is a positive and constructive working relationship between the Board and the executive team. 5. Ensure, in partnership with the Chair of the Board of Directors, that the organizationxe2x80x99s governing instruments and governance structure are regularly reviewed and assist with the Boardxe2x80x99s assessment of its performance. 6. Ensure, in partnership with the Chairman, that the Boardxe2x80x99s delegated authority is recorded in writing and understood fully by staff and volunteers, and that all agreed reporting procedures are followed. 7. Assist the Board to assist to govern the charity well, and that the Board has access to relevant external professional advice and expertise. Qualification and Experience xc2xb7 Minimum degree level, ideally a qualification in management or business. xc2xb7 More than 5 yearsxe2x80x99 experience working within the non-profit sector or public authority (local or national government) and with direct experience working with senior management and the Board of Directors. xc2xb7 Experience in managing /overseeing operations in an organization or as second-in-command in a large organization. xc2xb7 Experience in leading, managing, and motivating non-finance functions such as HR, legal, facilities, and administration is highly desirable. Essential Skills 1. Strong management and leadership capabilities with the ability to hire, inspire, and maintain a team of top professionals, interns, volunteers, and consultants. 2. Demonstrated management skills and solid experience in financial systems. 3. Exceptional strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to lead the financial reporting and analysis required to support strategic decision-making. 4. Ability to effectively communicate complex financial data (both written and verbal), articulate trade-offs, and distil information into clear recommendations for a range of decision-makers. 5. Good level of knowledge of audit, compliance, and internal control issues, and best practices related to risk management and insurance. 6. Familiarity with technology trends and developments and the ability to supervise Muslim Hands IT function. 7. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in her/his work, always exercising excellent judgment and discretion. 8. Strategic thinking and long-range planning skills with proven ability to meet deadlines. 9. Accomplished at working in an environment that is demanding and fast-paced, where there are sometimes competing needs and limited resources. 10. Fluent in English, with a strong command of another language, other than English 11. Understanding of and sympathetic to faith-based values at Muslim Hands and understanding of Shariah law.
