About the job Chief Client Officer

Ogilvy South Africa Group is looking for a Chief Client Officer (or Group MD) partner the CEO and the Ogilvy South Africa (OSA) Executive Committee in the management of multiple operating companies across OSA. The Chief Client Officer will play a client and industry facing role, and in partnership with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Directors (MDs), be responsible for the retention and growth of scope in top clients and the acquisition of new business/clients by ensuring effective and innovative pitching approaches. The Chief Client Officer will also play a significant role in the continued Digital Transformation of Ogilvy South Africa as a Modern Marketing Leader through new business acquisition and support initiatives to build modern marketing capabilities across Ogilvy South Africa. The Chief Client Officer will be a successful and experienced modern marketer, passionate about the Ogilvy brand, and will take direct oversight and responsibility for selected Ogilvy South Africa's specialist business operating unit, top key client relations and support and lead overall business growth initiatives. The Chief Client Officer will report into the CEO and form part of the Exco of Ogilvy South Africa and, which includes MDs of the various operating companies and Executive Creative leads of larger Operating units.

THE BIT ABOUT THE TEAM

The Chief Client Officer (CCO) reports into Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and works in close collaboration with C-Suit and Executive Team of Ogilvy South Africa (OSA) to achieve the business strategy. The CFO is part of the core Exco Leadership Team which includes Managing Directors of 9 operating companies across Ogilvy SAs.

THE TEAM RELIES ON YOU TO

In partnership with the CEO and the executive team, lead the development and execution of business strategy, as well as the achievement of the annual budget and business plan.

Meaningfully contribute to the evolving strategy of the business, by adding valuable insight related to client business needs, trends and new business and growth opportunities with the aim of achieving and business growth ambitions

Act as a member of Ogilvy South Africa Executive Team and Ogilvy South Africa Holding Board

Lead operating unit in your scope of responsibility in alignment with the business strategy, applying sound financial management practices to grow both operating company and group net sales and profit.

Develop and lead the execution the groupwide new business and growth strategy though the use of relevant stakeholders and offerings across the business.

Facilitate and drive collaboration across groupwide capabilities and operating companies, as well as relevant WPP agencies to drive sustained business growth for Ogilvy and our clients' brands.

Lead and drive business growth through net new business acquisition, cross-selling and organic growth within existing clients through understanding client business problems and supporting Managing Directors and their operating teams to respond with high impact and innovative solutions.

Identify external partners to help build and deliver relationships and initiatives to aid the new business and growth objectives.

Build and sustain relationships with pitching agencies and relevant industries bodies to ensure Ogilvy South Africa positioning and represented within the industry and top of mind as a partner for choice for existing and potential clients.

Develop and cultivate common best practice, standards, and tools for best in class Pitching and deliberately drive and build pitch fitness across OSA operating companies.

Lead and champion key client engagements, overall client health and effective management through driving meaningful and relevant client engagement plans and bringing the best of Ogilvy to all key clients.

Establish, nurture and grow key senior client relationships (at the CEO and CMO levels) by being a trusted advisor, seeing beyond explicit assignments to identify broader, longer term growth opportunities and proactively anticipating and timeously course correcting potential client issues.

Mentor and build Marketing, Client relationship building, engagement and management capabilities across the OSA client service community.

Champion and advocate for innovative and break-through work that elevates brands and drives business outcomes.

In partnership with the CEO, MDs and Chief Creative Officers, be accountable for sustaining and enhancing Ogilvy South Africa's stellar creative and effectiveness track record.

Support the development and execution of OSAs marketing strategy and plan in collaboration with the South Africa Exco and MDs and have a voice in the industry that positions OSA at the forefront of the transition in the industry blogs, social presence, speaking engagements at key industry events, etc...

Partner the Chief People Officer, CEO and OSA leaders in delivering the Talent Plan and driving a compelling EVP for Talent

Cultivating an atmosphere that embraces diversity and inclusion within the team and agency.

Demonstrate leadership behaviour that promote the Ogilvy culture, mission, vision and values.

Providing ongoing performance feedback and coaching of team members, particularly senior leaders.

Be a talent magnet by developing and nurturing the Ogilvy South Africa culture as well as hiring and develop the next era of leadership talent required to win in the modern marketing era.

Drive Ogilvy South Africa's Transformation strategic through achieving meaningful and systemic progress, including OSA BBBEE and Diversity and inclusion plans.

20+ years business experience, 15 years of advertising experience, digital experience preferred.

10 years of client leadership including integrated marketing programs and client relationship management with a digital scope.

In depth communication and written skills, strong presentation and storytelling skills.

Strong analytic and strategic abilities.

Strong business & financial acumen.
