Job Title: Chemistry Teacher



Level: IGCSE and AS Level



Location: Halfway House, Midrand



Reports to: School Principal



Start Date: 15 January 2026 or earlier.



Job Summary:



The Chemistry Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in Chemistry to students preparing for the Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and Advanced Subsidiary (AS) Level examinations. This role involves designing engaging lesson plans, conducting assessments, providing academic support, and fostering a positive learning environment conducive to student success in these subjects.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:



Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Education, or related field. Teaching certification or licensure in Chemistry. 5 years' experience teaching IGCSE and/or AS Level Chemistry. Valid registration with South African Council of Educators (SACE).

Minimum Duties and Responsibilities:



Must be able to demonstrate the values of integrity, respect, and collaboration. Develop and maintain IGCSE and AS Level Chemistry curriculum materials and engaging lesson plans that meet syllabus requirements, incorporate diverse teaching strategies to accommodate all learning styles, and stay current with changes in curriculum and assessment criteria. Prepare lesson plans incorporating new methods and aids. Assume leadership roles when necessary, and manage, evaluate, and report on student progress. Create an active, positive learning environment, leveraging students' experiences, providing detailed assessments, maintaining discipline, and utilizing audiovisual aids to enhance lesson delivery. Administer and evaluate formative and summative assessments in Chemistry. Offer timely, constructive feedback to students for improvement. Maintain accurate records of grades and progress, communicating with parents as necessary.
