The role combines process engineering and project coordination responsibilities, with a focus on developing, designing, constructing and commissioning chemical production facilities within the energetic materials environment.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
Develop, design, construct and commission chemical production facilities in the energetic materials environment.
Effectively manage and engage with internal and external stakeholders through the project and proposal phase.
Ensure project activities comply with relevant standards and guidelines.
Work independently while managing contributions across multiple projects simultaneously.
Assist senior staff with day-to-day activities.
cess Engineering documentation during the Basic and Detailed Engineering phases.
Prepare mass and energy balances, Block Flow Diagrams (BFDs), Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), equipment sizing calculations, operating philosophies and summary lists.
Participate in and contribute to design reviews and project hazard and risk studies.
Correctly specify process equipment and generate datasheets for procurement.
Develop concept designs for chemical production facilities as inputs into Technical Proposals
Generate Technical Proposals for chemical production facilities that will form part of the Tender Package.
Compile VROOM and ROOM costing for chemical production facilities.
Develop commissioning and performance test run execution plans.
Coordinate engineering activities across all disciplines during design, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.
Manage sub-contractors to ensure compliance with scope, cost and schedule requirements.
Facilitate communication and collaboration between project stakeholders, ensuring effective information flow and issue resolution.
Liaise with clients to align on technical requirements and scope.
Adheres and implements Rheinmetall Denel Munitions Policies and Procedures and ensures compliance to ISO Standards with respect to SHE/Quality/Environmental/Energy.
WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE
Eng/B.Sc/B.Tech in Chemical Engineering (related engineering qualifications will also be considered).
Master/Doctorate in Energetic Material science will be advantageous.
At least 3 -5 years working experience in a process engineering environment.
Preferred industry experience: Energetic materials and EPCM
Proven stakeholder management and communication skills, with an ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
