The position requires a dynamic leader who is passionate about working in the alcoholic beverage sector (Beer culture specifically), supporting both big business and smaller craft brewers.

We are seeking a CEO that will steer the business ahead, navigating the journey through the various obstacles, including government opposition, while prioritizing the well-being of its members.

As the CEO you must be able to uphold the company values and drive delivery of the association key pillars with a strong focus on government lobbying as well as collaborating with key stakeholders.

You will also be responsible for devising a collaborative and agile strategy for the future. The ideal candidate would take pride in being part of a company that doesnt prioritise financial gain above all else but instead prioritize a balance of financial, strategic, and cultural goals to build long term success.

One would describe you as an outstanding communicator demonstrating excellent interpersonal, persuasion, influencing, analytical and board presentation skills. MAIN JOB FUNCTIONS (not an all-inclusive list):

Drive the strategic direction of the business, guiding teams collaboratively, with an entrepreneurial mindset.

- Promote beer culture and tourism.

- Ensure execution of communication strategy

- Support at Beer competitions identified eg: African Beer Cup, South African National Beer Trophy, South African National Homebrew Champs, Label Awards, etc.

- Identifying value for stakeholders and assisting the association to maintain the smooth operation of the business.

- Identifying the latest trends and technologies affecting the beer industry.

- Brainstorming with the Team on new and innovative growth strategies.

- Developing and monitoring campaign budgets.

- Support and develop leadership skills for Executive Leadership Team.

- Make firm decisions when needed but consult those with expertise, listen fully, and make decisions openly.

- Gather the right people, make decisions, and communicate with the company in a way that makes employees know they are cared for and the shares context and considerations of major decisions.

- Identify and provide resources needed to achieve operational goals, revenue growth and cost management.

- Strategically work to improve efficiency.

- Ensure the management of the organisations finances.

- Enhance the capability of individuals to excel and make valuable contributions to the organisation by offering continuous feedback and creating avenues for learning through both formal and informal means.

Qualification, Skills and Experience required:

  • Minimum bachelors degree in business, finance, or law. MBA advantage
  • Minimum of 5 years experience as CEO or executive in the alcohol industry, beer and beer culture as well as preferably in an NGO space
  • Proven experience in leading and uniting diverse groups of people in an industry
  • A thorough understanding of finance management, how to navigate and dissect financial statements / projections in conjunction with strategy.
  • Proven experience in setting vision, mission and building strategy, as well as communicating this across diverse groups.
  • Outstanding ability and experience in leading in a crisis.
  • Good planning and prioritizing skills to manage a varied and pressurized workload while focusing on the "Big Picture"
  • Proven track record of delivering creative solutions to overcome obstacles and enhance profitability.
  • Ability to network with, and influence, stakeholders both internally and externally to achieve a pre-defined outcome.
  • Focus on the achievement of financial targets and views issues in terms of costs, profits, markets and added values.
  • Planning, implementing, and monitoring digital campaigns across all digital networks as well as coordinating with advertising and media experts.
