Job Description

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The centralized fuel controller is responsible for the complete monitoring, control, and reconciliation of fuel usage across all branches. This includes managing fuel dispensed from in-house bowsers linked to the Fleet Marshall System as well as fuel purchased via ABSA Fleet Cards. The role ensures all fuel costs are captured accurately, usage is recovered appropriately, and discrepancies are resolved. The controller must provide detailed reporting to support financial and operational decision-making

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

Oversee daily monitoring of bowser levels and schedule replenishments to prevent stockouts.

Reconcile dip readings with the Fleet Marshall system and dispensing logs.

Investigate and resolve variances such as over-dispensing, internal transfers, workshop use.

Ensure accurate allocation of costs to cost centres and maintain ledger accuracy.

Validate and reconcile monthly ABSA Fleet Card statements.

Match each transaction with vehicle logs and job/customer billing to ensure cost recovery.

Identify on under-recoveries or unexplained variances and escalate appropriately.

Allocate costs accurately and enforce policy compliance.

Produce regular reports on fuel volumes, costs, recoveries, and non-recoverable usage per branch.

Reconcile physical vs. system stock and fuel card transactions vs. internal tracking.

Analyze trends and variances, highlighting inefficiencies.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE

Matric Pre-requisite; Diploma in Logistics, Finance, or Operations preferred

2+ Years of experience in fuel management, logistics control, or finance operations

Background in multi-branch operational environments is highly beneficial

Familiarity with ABSA Fleet Card reporting tools and usage policies

Analytical mindset with strong variance investigation capabilities

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

High integrity, accountability, and confidentiality with sensitive data
