Category Manager
Durban - KZN - Office Based

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Negotiating with Representatives from Suppliers and maintaining comprehensive records of all transactions with Suppliers.
  • Negotiating deals and prices to achieve competitive retail prices and budgeted gross profit for DC and Retail.
  • Advising Retailers on store standards, specs, ranging, pricing and promotions.
  • Achieving targeted sales, stock and GPs while minimizing out of stocks.
  • Managing stock levels and service levels against sales and budgets.
  • Managing product ranges within specified product categories.
  • Managing promotions and ability to drive sales to Retailers.
Requirements:
  • Marketing or Purchasing related Degree/Diploma
  • Extensive management experience in trading in the FMCG industry
  • Thorough knowledge of buying systems and processes essential
  • Excellent negotiating, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Well able to manage in a pressurized / demanding work environment
  • Strong drive, initiative, sense of urgency and use of innovation to resolve business challenges
  • Knowledge of FMCG Marketing is essential
  • Advanced Computer Literacy
