Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated

Carpenter - Team Leader

to join our factory team. This role requires strong hands-on woodworking skills combined with the ability to lead a team with energy, focus, and accountability. The successful candidate will be responsible for precision cutting, assembling, and finishing of timber products, while ensuring the team delivers high-quality work on time and according to drawings.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and motivate a team of carpenters and assemblers to achieve daily production targets. Interpret and work from technical drawings, ensuring accuracy and quality in production. Operate woodworking machinery, including table saws, panel saws, planers, and jointers, with safety and precision. Cut, assemble, and finish timber components to specification. Train, guide, and support team members in safe work practices and efficient techniques. Monitor output for quality control and adherence to standards. Collaborate with the Production Manager to plan workloads and allocate resources effectively. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Troubleshoot issues on the factory floor and provide solutions to keep production moving.

Skills & Experience

Proven experience as a

Carpenter / Cabinet Maker / Joiner

in a factory or workshop setting. Strong technical skills with

timber cutting, joinery, and assembly

. Confident operating table saws and other woodworking machinery. Ability to

read and interpret technical drawings

with precision. Experience in a

team leadership or supervisory role

within a production environment. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills. High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

Qualifications

Relevant trade qualification in Carpentry / Cabinet Making (advantageous but not essential with strong experience). Minimum 3-5 years' experience in woodworking or factory-based carpentry.

Pay: R50,00 - R70,00 per hour
