Purpose of the Job




To buy effectively to ensure constant sales growth and an increase in gross margins, coupled with necessary advertisement spend recoupment. The ideal candidate must have a passion for procurement and possess an entrepreneurial and merchant style of thinking.

Job Objectives



Develop, adjust and maintain cycle purchasing plan in accordance with market trends on a monthly basis Initiate negotiations regarding terms, conditions, discounts, stock protection for products as per purchasing plan on a weekly basis Keep abreast of new pharmaceutical products and list these timeously Ensure minimum and maximum stock levels across all products as per purchasing plan, budget parameters, MCC requirements Accurately and timeously place orders and inform suppliers daily Follow up on outstanding or displaced orders, out of stock and back orders obtain possible delivery dates, on a daily basis Reduce out of stock situation to a 5% level Oversee special non-surgical product buy outs Timeously inform Receiving regarding all orders Keep accurate record of pricing, deals promotions etc. Collect invoices from Receiving area on a daily basis Control prices, add logistical fees Ensure that the right amount of credits are allocated to suppliers for short supplies, short dated stocks and price claims Manage performance within area of responsibility Ensure staff competence regarding the use of credits Identify development needs and find ways to address these Negotiate advertising to meet budget targets Plan promotions according to seasonality of portfolio

Qualifications



Essential:




Matric (Grade 12) Appropriate B Degree is preferable

Desirable




Analysing Learning and Researching Leading and Supervising Working with People Relating and Networking Following Instructions and Procedure

Experience



Essential




3 years of current buying experience within a retail/wholesale/FMCG environment

Knowledge and Skills



Knowledge and understanding of healthcare related products Knowledge and understanding of financial indicators Negotiation, procurement and stock management Knowledge of internal systems Excellent verbal and written communication skills Good interpersonal skills Sound analytical skills Relationship building and management skills Good negotiation skills Excellent numeracy skills Attention to detail
