Job Description

Key responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership & Growth

  • Develop and execute a scalable clinic network expansion strategy to reach 10 million underserved patients.
  • Identify opportunities for growth in new geographic areas, including South Africa and beyond.
  • Oversee the Nursepreneur model, ensuring financial sustainability while maintaining high-quality service delivery.
  • Spearhead AI-driven and telemedicine innovations to reduce costs and enhance patient outcomes.
  • Monitor healthcare trends, policy changes, and market shifts to inform strategic decisions.
2. Operational Excellence, Quality Control & Medication Management
  • Ensure all clinics operate efficiently, maintaining the highest patient-centred care standards.
  • Implement and monitor process-driven innovations, including task-shifting strategies and digital health solutions.
  • Establish a robust monitoring and evaluation system to track patient satisfaction, clinic performance, and financial sustainability.
  • Oversee procurement, HR, and governance structures to support Nursepreneurs and clinic staff.
3. Medication Control & Compliance:
  • Develop and enforce strict medication management protocols to ensure safe storage, handling, and dispensing of pharmaceuticals across all clinics.
  • Ensure compliance with South African Medicines Control Council (SAHPRA) regulations and other relevant pharmaceutical laws.
  • Implement a centralized medication procurement system to ensure cost-effective purchasing and prevent stock shortages.
  • Utilize technology-driven inventory management systems to track medication usage, prevent losses, and reduce expired stock.
  • Ensure all clinics adhere to ethical prescription practices, avoiding over-prescription or misuse of medication.
  • Conduct regular audits and quality control checks to maintain pharmaceutical compliance and patient safety.
4. Financial & Business Model Optimization
  • Ensure that clinic revenue models (network fees & revenue share) remain sustainable while keeping patient fees affordable.
  • Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and investment allocation for clinic expansion.
  • Work with the Business Development team to secure funding through grants, impact investors, and partnerships.
  • Optimize the franchise model to ensure rapid clinic scale-up without compromising financial viability.
5. Stakeholder & Government Engagement
  • Strengthen public-private partnerships, working with government health departments to integrate Mpathy clinics into the broader healthcare ecosystem.
  • Build relationships with investors, donors, and healthcare industry leaders to enhance Mpathys impact.
  • Represent Mpathy in policy discussions, forums, and media engagements to advocate for low-cost private healthcare solutions.
6. Innovation & Technology Integration
  • Lead the integration of AI-assisted pre-diagnosis, telemedicine, and digital health records across clinics.
  • Explore new technology partnerships that enhance efficiency and reduce operational costs.
  • Ensure that technology adoption aligns with Mpathys mission of accessibility and affordability.
7. Leadership & Team Development
  • Build and mentor a high-performing, mission-driven team.
  • Oversee the recruitment, training, and professional development of Nursepreneurs and clinic staff.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous learning.
Required qualifications & experience
Essential:
  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Public Health, Healthcare Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 8-10 years of leadership experience in healthcare, social enterprise, or business development.
  • Experience in scaling healthcare models, franchise-based businesses, or impact-driven ventures.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute strategic plans in resource-constrained environments.
  • Strong financial management skills, including revenue model optimization and fundraising.
  • Knowledge of South Africas healthcare regulations, policies, and public-private healthcare dynamics.
Preferred:
  • Masters degree (MBA, MPH, or MHA) preferred.
  • Experience working with nurse-led clinics, AI-driven health innovations, or digital health solutions.
  • Exposure to impact investing, social entrepreneurship, and public-private partnerships.
