Essence of the job:
The Business Risk Manager will be responsible for managing, monitoring and reporting on risk management across the organization. The incumbent will manage a team and facilitate a strong risk management culture across the organization. Reporting responsibilities will include providing risk updates and insights to the various executive committees and the board.
Qualification:
NQF Level 7: Bachelor's degree in risk management, Finance, Actuarial or related
Membership with IRMSA (advantage)
Professional certification in risk management (advantage).
Minimum Requirements:
Ensure that each relevant area has a Risk Champion who will oversee the management of risk in that area
Ensure that Risk Appetite is set for approval by Board and Exco and ensure that the Risk Profile is monitored appropriately
Ensure that each area manages their risk to the agreed appetite
Present RMA's overall Risk Register and Profile to EXCO and ARC
Provide holistic Risk program (assess, create action plan and remediate)
Develop SAM Full Project Action Plan
SAM reporting and preparation
ORSA reporting and preparation
Monitor risk management activities across the business
Monitor risk indicators breaches
Benchmark risk processes against local and international best practices in order to apply the most effective and efficient risk methodologies
Conduct risk related workshops
Minimum 8 years managerial experience in an insurance environment including risk management exposure.
Knowledge of the Insurance act (short and long term)
Reporting to executive and board committee
Working knowledge of the development and implementation of risk management frameworks
Knowledge of COSO framework and ISO 31000
Knowledge of business policies, risk management, processes and procedures, legal and compliance
