As the Group Business Risk Manager, you will be responsible for managing, monitoring and reporting on risk management across the organisation. You will manage a team and facilitate a strong risk management culture across the organisation. Reporting responsibilities will include providing risk updates and insights to the various executive committees and the board.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
Enterprise Risk Management:
q Maintaining the risk management framework, structure and standards
q Conduct an Annual Review of Risk Governance Policies & Processes; agreed Management Action Policy in accordance with GOI standards
q Keep abreast of new risk measurement techniques and models
q Provide oversight on risk models and methodologies
q Ensure that each relevant area has a Risk Champion who will oversee the management of risk in that area
q Ensure that Risk Appetite is set for approval by Board and Exco and ensure that the Risk Profile is monitored appropriately
q Ensure that each area manages their risk to the agreed appetite
q Present RMA's overall Risk Register and Profile to EXCO and ARC
q Provide holistic Risk program (assess, create action plan and remediate)
q SAM reporting and preparation
q ORSA coordinating, reporting and preparation
q Benchmark risk processes against local and international best practices in order to apply the most effective and efficient risk methodologies
q Conduct risk related workshops
q Coordinating, preparation and reporting of combined assurance across the Group.
Stakeholder relationship management:
q Maintain acceptable relationships with Audit, Risk and Actuarial Committee, Exco and Management Teams
q Build a strong risk management culture across the organisation.
Staff Management:
q Manage, supervise and train staff
q Lead and motivate the team in order to achieve targets
q Develop annual KPA's for staff
q Ensure effective performance management is carried out
q Lead and mentor staff to ensure that motivation, ownership and development was embedded to align with the business culture
q Pursue opportunities to develop existing and new skills outside of comfort zone for staff
q Act to resolve issues which prevent effective team working, even during times of change and uncertainty
q Coach others and encourage them to take ownership of their development.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO THE TABLE?
q NQF Level 7: Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Finance, Actuarial or related
q Membership with IRMSA (advantage)
q Professional certification in risk management (advantage)
q Minimum 5 years managerial experience in an insurance environment including risk management exposure
q Strong Stakeholder management skills
q Knowledge of the Insurance act (short and long term)
q Reporting to executive and board committee
q Working knowledge of the development and implementation of risk management frameworks
q Knowledge of COSO framework and ISO 31000
