Business & Operations Manager (BOM): Consolidated Job Specification
Role Overview: Strategic Operations & Governance Lead
The Business Operations Manager (BOM) is a senior leadership position responsible for the compliant execution and strategic oversight of Malabie Infinitum's diversified portfolio, which includes Smart Property Assets and Financial Services Subsidiaries (Fintech, Loans, and Investments).
The BOM ensures strict procedural compliance across all departments, acts as the primary risk mitigation officer for operations, and reports directly to the Corporate Governance function.
1. Core Duties and Execution Mandates
The role requires strategic leadership across three regulated and high-risk business verticals:
A. Financial Services and Capital Oversight (Fintech Mandate)
Regulatory Compliance: Oversee operational adherence to relevant statutes, including FSCA (Financial Sector Conduct Authority), NCA (National Credit Act), and FICA (Financial Intelligence Centre Act), for the management of loans and investment products.
Subsidiary Management: Monitor and report on the working capital, liquidity, and operational performance of all financial service subsidiaries.
Risk & Audit Readiness: Maintain a state of readiness for internal and external audits concerning financial services data and regulatory disclosures.
B. Property Management and Asset Control
Portfolio Strategy: Drive operational strategies to maximize occupancy, profitability, and guest experience across the short-term rental and residential property portfolio.
Asset Protection: Ensure high-value physical assets (properties, inventory, electronic devices) are protected from loss, including the mandatory verification of insurance coverage before operational deployment.
Logistics & E-Commerce: Oversee procurement, inventory control, and logistics optimization for the property portfolio and any e-commerce activities.
C. Technology and Systems Enforcement
Platform Security: Lead the secure deployment and compliant use of all Smart-Tech applications (e.g., TTLock, Tuya, Alexa) and enterprise systems (CRM, ERP).
Data Integrity: Ensure POPIA compliance and data security protocols are followed when handling client, tenant, and financial information. * Smart Solutions: Create and manage smart solution product and ovsersee the full life cycle from idea generation to deploymenet

A. Academic and Technical Proficiency (Hard Skills)
Skill Area Mandatory Competencies
Financial & Statutory Proven expertise in corporate reconciliation (QuickBooks/Xero), budget management, and financial control. Mandatory knowledge of FSCA, NCA, and FICA principles.
Corporate Compliance Demonstrated ability to manage and ensure timely submission of all statutory filings (VAT, CIPC, SARS).
Digital/IT Governance Expert proficiency in Microsoft Teams and SharePoint for official communication and auditable record-keeping. Ability to enforce Cybersecurity Protocols across all users.
HR & Labour Law Working knowledge of the LRA and BCEA to manage fair disciplinary procedures and performance improvement plans (PIPs).
Risk & Asset Management Experience implementing systems for asset tracking, inventory control, and ensuring mandatory insurance coverage for operational assets.
