About The Company

BluNova is a subsidiary of Blue Label Telecoms responsible for drawing value from its large heterogeneous corpus of data originating from multiple companies within the Blue Label group. With this data, we identify opportunities in the market and develop sustainable solutions to exploit these opportunities. We leverage scalable cloud technologies to deploy our solutions, with a strong emphasis on automation. Most of our data analysis is performed in a distributed spark environment, where we have leg room to spin up large clusters exceeding thousands of cores and terabytes of RAM when needed.

Job Purpose

A Business Intelligence Developer is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and presenting data-driven insights to support informed decision-making within an organization. They work closely with business stakeholders to understand their analytical needs and create reports, dashboards, and visualizations that provide valuable insights into business performance, trends, and opportunities.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with business teams to define reporting requirements and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards, reports, and visualizations using BI tools (Power BI)
  • Extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from various sources to ensure data accuracy and consistency for analysis.
  • Analyse and interpret complex data sets to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights.
  • Provide ad-hoc data analysis and reporting to address specific business questions or challenges.
  • Monitor data quality, troubleshoot data discrepancies, and ensure data integrity.
  • Stay updated with industry best practices and emerging trends in data visualization and BI technologies.
  • Collaborate with IT and data engineering teams to optimize data pipelines and infrastructure.
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications for data solutions.
  • Maintain the report pipeline with 99% uptime.
  • Provide training and support to end-users on how to effectively use BI tools and reports.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (such as Business Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline).
  • Master's degree or relevant professional certifications (e.g., Certified Business Intelligence Professional, Tableau Certification).
Experience
  • Previous experience as a BI analyst or in a related role.
  • Knowledge of advanced data analysis techniques and statistical methods.
  • Familiarity with data modeling and data architecture concepts.
  • Experience with big data technologies and tools (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, R) for data manipulation and analysis.

  • Thorough understanding of star schema, snowflake, and other data modelling approaches.
  • Additional expertise in designing and developing Tabular models would be advantageous.
  • Capable of generating comprehensive Source-to-Target mapping documents.
  • Proficient in creating Business Requirements Specifications (BRS).
  • Adept at producing Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERDs) to visualize data structures.
  • Capable of developing compelling business cases to support decision-making.
  • Familiarity with ETL tools, including Matillion, SSIS, and Data Factory.
  • Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and databases.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Understanding of business processes and a willingness to learn about different industries.
