Business Development Specialist Antioxidants

Job Description

A well-established leading specialty chemicals distributor is seeking a Business Development Specialist to be responsible for driving the growth of its antioxidant product portfolio within the rendering, fishmeal, premix, and pet food markets. The role focuses on developing client relationships, coordinating with blending partners and third-party labs, and expanding market presence in Johannesburg and other regions with rendering operations.
Minimum requirements for the role:

  • Must have a Bachelor's Degree in Business, Agriculture, Animal Science, Chemistry, or a related field
  • Minimum 2-5 years' sales experience in the rendering, feed preservation, premix, or pet food industries
  • Prior exposure to the rendering market and knowledge of feed preservation products (e.g., antioxidants like BHA, BHT, ethoxyquin) is highly desirable
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be willing to travel when required
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • Identifying and targeting new business opportunities in the rendering, fishmeal, premix, and pet food industries.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with key customers, including pre-mixers, pet food producers, and rendering operations.
  • Developing strategies to grow market share for antioxidant products (BHA, BHT, ethoxyquin, and blends).
  • Achieving sales targets by actively pursuing leads, conducting presentations, and closing deals.
  • Providing technical product knowledge to customers, leveraging training received internationally.
  • Managing customer accounts, ensuring high satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Collaborating with local blending partners to ensure seamless production and delivery of antioxidant blends.
  • Working with third-party lab services to ensure product quality and compliance with industry standards.
  • Coordinating with regulatory bodies to support product registration processes.
  • Monitoring industry trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to inform sales strategies.
  • Providing feedback to management on market demands and product development opportunities.
  • Travelling to regions with rendering operations to engage with customers and build market presence.
  • Attending specialized product training internationally to gain in-depth knowledge of the antioxidant portfolio.
