Job Summary:
MCC Label Durban plant is looking to fill a vacancy for a Business Development Manager. As a Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, building strategic relationships, and driving the growth of the company. Your primary focus will be on developing and expanding the customer base and increasing revenue growth in countries outside South Africa.


Key Responsibilities : Market Research and Analysis:

  • Conduct comprehensive market research to identify potential business opportunities.
  • Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments.
  • Identify gaps and areas for growth within the export markets.
Business Strategy Development:
  • Develop and implement effective business development strategies in alignment with organizational goals.
  • Identify new markets, products, and services to drive growth.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate business development plans into the overall business strategy
Lead Generation and Prospecting:
  • Identify and target potential clients, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Generate leads through networking, cold calling, and other business development techniques.
  • Qualify leads and opportunities based on organizational criteria.
Client Relationship Management:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and key stakeholders.
  • Act as the main point of contact for clients and address their needs and concerns.
  • Work closely with the sales support team to ensure client satisfaction and retention.

Proposal Development and Presentation:
  • Prepare and present compelling business proposals to potential clients.
  • Collaborate with the marketing and sales teams to create effective presentations.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions to secure new business opportunities.

Revenue Growth:
  • Meet and exceed revenue targets through successful business development efforts.
  • Identify upselling and cross-selling opportunities within existing client accounts.
  • Work with commercial teams to ensure accurate pricing and profitability.


Market Expansion:
  • Explore and enter new markets across Sub Sahara Africa.
  • Develop strategies for entering and establishing a presence in new territories.
  • Evaluate the feasibility and potential risks associated with market expansion.

Networking and Relationship Building:
  • Attend industry events, conferences, and networking functions to build a strong professional network.
  • Represent the company at business meetings, trade shows, and other relevant forums.
  • Identify partnership opportunities to enhance the company's offerings.


Experience/Skills /Education Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in business development, sales, or a related role across the Sub Sahara African region
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and develop innovative solutions.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • 3-5 years working knowledge of export controls, documentation and regulations.
  • 5 years account management/sales experience in the Label, Flexible packaging or closely related industry.
  • Previous experience with using a CRM system to manage sales funnel activity.
  • Ability to travel frequently and extensively outside South Africa without any physical or personal limitations.
