Johannesburg - Gauteng - South Africa

Reporting to the Export Channel Head, our client is currently seeking an experienced and driven Export BD Manager to grow sales volumes and market share across their FMCG businesses in Africa. You will have a proven record of achieving volume budgets, growing category shares, developing strong customer relationships, and pioneering new business development.

Essential Requirements for the Role:

  • Degree/Diploma in a commercial field
  • Minimum 5 years of working experience in FMCG sales
  • Strong relationships across the FMCG industry
  • Export knowledge a strong advantage
  • Familiarity with category management and customer business plans
  • Cross-functional knowledge of trade marketing and retail
  • Familiarity with market share trends and shelf health inspection
  • Experience in Rate of Sale Analysis
  • Strong entrepreneurial skills and commercial understanding
  • Outstanding communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a sales plan to grow market share within a specific category across Export Channels
  • Develop plans focusing on listings, distribution, promotions, and visibility to ensure market share growth
  • Monitor and report on market developments and competitor activity
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain, Global Category Teams, Planning and Finance to ensure streamlined and speedy deliverables to customers
  • Use market insights to develop category plans across all channels
  • Track, measure, and evaluate sales metrics and trends, and provide corrective recourse actions
  • Plan monthly forecasts across various categories
  • Collaborate with marketing to develop strong BTL category plans and ensure the effective execution of such plans
  • Assess customer opportunities and make recommendations to drive promotional plans
  • Manage operational/sales objectives with Third-party agents and Distributors
  • Monitor SOH/Sales Out Data/Distribution and pricing
  • Ability and willingness to travel frequently
