Introduction

Achieve sales and profit goals through development of product, marketing, promotion and advertising execution and overall management of the Hard lines division (including Hard Lines and Publishing)

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Identify trendsetter ideas by researching industry and related events, publications, and announcements; tracking individual contributors and their accomplishments.
  • Locate or propose potential business deals by contacting potential partners; discovering and exploring opportunities.
  • Screen potential business deals by analysing market strategies, deal requirements, potential, and financials; evaluating options; resolving internal priorities; recommending equity investments.
  • Close new business deals by coordinating requirements; developing and negotiating contracts; integrating contract requirements with business operations.
  • Develop negotiating strategies and positions by studying integration of new business opportunities with company strategies and operations; examining risks and potentials; estimating partners' needs and goals.

Desired Experience & Qualification
  • Three to five years experience at a major consumer packaged goods, retail or entertainment company in either a brand marketing or licensing role
  • Sales experience and knowledge of South African retail environment
  • Product knowledge of any of the various core segments will be considered an asset (i.e. toy, stationery, sporting goods etc.)
  • Business/Financial acumen profit oriented, demonstrates an understanding of the key financial parameters and methods used by the business to control costs and to measure business performance.
  • Effective negotiation skills
  • Good decision making skills and excellent judgment
  • Excellent project management skills to ensure multi-faceted activities are brought together in an integrated manner to deliver the agreed outcome on time and within budget.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Fully computer literate including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Good presentation skills able to deliver information clearly and persuasively
  • Problem solving able to develop and implement effective remedies using as few resources as possible while meeting time deadlines. Exhibits creativity and innovation by producing unique, but effective solutions to problems. Recommends new ways of doing the job.
  • Strategic - understands the definition, nature and key components of strategy. Designs strategies, which satisfy corporate goals. Chooses rationally between courses of action available and accurately allocates resources.
