Job Description

Our client, a global legal practice with offices in Cape Town, Durban, and Johannesburg, is seeking a highly skilled Business Analyst to join their Johannesburg office in Sandton. This role is ideal for an analytical, detail-driven individual with strong experience in financial processes, enterprise systems, and data-driven decision support.
Role Summary / Objective
The Business Analyst will apply advanced analytical skills to support process optimisation, systems enhancement, and financial data analysis. This role requires strong collaboration with finance and data teams, a solid understanding of financial systems, and the ability to document and improve end-to-end business processes aligned with the organisation's strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities
Business Process & Systems Analysis
Document and map financial business processes and data flows across departments.
Identify inefficiencies, gaps, and bottlenecks in current workflows.
Maintain up-to-date models depicting financial data movement across enterprise systems.
Process Reengineering & Improvement
Analyse existing workflows and recommend process redesign to enhance data quality, efficiency, and user experience.
Support the implementation of new or improved processes alongside cross-functional teams.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with finance, legal, IT, and data teams to gather and clarify requirements.
Facilitate workshops and present process models, improvement proposals, and system documentation.
Financial Analysis & Reporting
Analyse financial data and trends to support data-driven decision-making.
Contribute to financial modelling, forecasting, and budgeting.
Collaborate with the Head of Data & Analytics to present financial insights to stakeholders.
Systems Optimisation
Evaluate performance of financial systems, recommending enhancements for accuracy and efficiency.
Partner with IT to implement system updates, integrations, and upgrades.
Key Skills & Competencies
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking ability.
Advanced proficiency in financial modelling tools (Excel, SQL).
Familiarity with financial systems and ERP platforms; experience with Aderant highly advantageous.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
Proven experience working collaboratively with finance and data teams.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Informatics, or related field.
3-5 years' experience in business analysis, financial systems, or process improvement.
Exposure to financial operations within a professional services or legal environment is preferred.
