The Sanlam Retail Affluent (SRA) cluster is responsible for Sanlam's retail business in South Africa. SRA provides clients across different market segments (entry-level, middle-income, affluent, professional market and business owners) with a comprehensive range of appropriate and competitive financial solutions. These include traditional life insurance risk and savings products, investment, retirement, health, credit and fiduciary services. Our products are designed to facilitate long-term wealth creation, protection and niche financing and therefore these solutions are engineered around client needs. Role purpose:

This role will be the fiduciary champion and expert for Sanlam across the Group, responsible for leveraging the Sanlam brand and providing brand & marketing oversight to facilitate future growth in the Sanlam Legacy value proposition (i.e., Sanlam's revised fiduciary CVP as offered through our strategic partner Capital Legacy). This role will identify growth opportunities and facilitate effective campaign execution in collaboration with Capital Legacy and various Sanlam Group channels & digital stakeholders. As fiduciary entry point into Sanlam, this role will provide insight and thought leadership to integrated marketing strategies and go-to-market plans and coordinate integrated marketing campaigns from concept to execution across digital and traditional channels across all stakeholders. In the case of client facing campaigns (mainly digital), this role will be responsible to execute directly.

This role will ensure brand consistency and protection of Sanlam digital properties. It is expected that the role will scrutinise the competitor landscape and stay up to date with national and global trends for similar platforms.

The successful applicant must have a passion for and sound comprehension of digital business platforms, understand what drives client behaviour and how to interpret it to the benefit of the fiduciary digital and traditional business. Understanding client behaviour by analysing on-platform behaviour and growing Sanlam's fiduciary client base via digital marketing to both the public and the Sanlam current client base are all core to the role.

Output/Core Tasks:

  • Own and develop the fiduciary value proposition and roadmap in line with the applicable client segment strategy recognising key client needs, leveraging the strength of the Sanlam brand to gain a competitive advantage.
  • Use internal and market client insights to identify big themes/life events which relate to fiduciary clients.
  • Work closely with the various Sanlam Group Channels (i.e., Distribution channels) and businesses, Sanlam Fintech/CX and Capital Legacy to plan the marketing strategy and ensure that the relevant channel propositions are fit-for-purpose.
  • Continuously develop the existing channel propositions across the business to widen client appeal and business profitability.
  • Work cross-functionally with Finance and Data Science/Business Intelligence functions to model short term and lifetime value profitability of any channel propositions.
  • Provide continuous input into improving the user experience on the platform and elevating the competitive edge.
  • Ensure Sanlam brand consistency and protection of digital properties, including facilitating all required Sanlam brand signoffs in line with the agreed Trademark and Licensing agreements
  • Fiduciary contact point to coordinate planning, communication and facilitate execution of all fiduciary digital and traditional marketing activities with all relevant stakeholders in line with the annual Sanlam Life calendar/schedule and in support of the achievement of business goals.
  • Responsible to facilitate and/or execute client facing marketing and communication activities for Sanlam Legacy.
Output/Core Tasks continued:
  • Engage with digital and traditional media agencies and facilitate the development and execution of the digital and traditional marketing strategy. Collaborate with Capital Legacy on digital campaigning and digital re-engagement strategies.
  • Track and report campaign and online marketing success through effective measurement metrics. Make recommendations for improvement and take corrective steps.
  • Identify trends and communicate learnings and intelligence of online marketing capability to the business.
  • Evaluate emerging marketing technologies. Provide thought leadership and perspective for adoption where appropriate.
  • Manage expenses and budget.
  • Manage escalated complaints and liaise with stakeholders and clients in line with Sanlam Complaints policy.
  • Facilitate compliance and regulatory/legal engagements and signoffs between Capital Legacy and Sanlam Compliance and Legal functions.
  • Fiduciary contact point for special projects initiated by Sanlam, e.g., Anti Money Laundering, POPIA etc and liaison with Capital Legacy for implementation and/or reporting
  • Fiduciary contact point to resolve operational challenges, e.g., call centre performance, Sanlam walk in centre and client care centre
Role Requirements:

Qualifications:
  • Relevant Marketing qualification - minimum 3-year qualification
  • Microsoft Office suite, Excel
Knowledge:
  • Understanding of value proposition creation, commercial strategies, and market segmentation
  • Understanding of Marketing and / or Strategy best practice
  • Market research and reporting
  • Digital Marketing implementation, measurement, and reporting
  • Data management and marketing analytics interpretation
Additional Knowledge and Experience [advantageous]:
  • Demonstrable experience in leveraging a brand to increase market share while ensuring brand consistency
  • Demonstrable experience leading and managing SEO/SEM, marketing database, email, social media and/or display advertising campaigns
  • Highly creative with experience in identifying target audiences and devising digital campaigns that engage, inform and motivate
  • Experience in optimizing landing pages and user funnels
  • Experience with A/B and multivariate experiments
  • Solid knowledge of website analytics and other related tools (e.g., Google Analytics, NetInsight, Omniture, WebTrends, HTML, AdWords, DoubleClick suite, D365)
  • Strong analytical skills and data-driven thinking
  • An understanding of behavioural finance/economics
  • Up to date with the latest trends and best practices in online marketing and measurement
  • At least 5 years relevant industry experience, specifically in the financial services industry.
  • At least 5 years Digital Marketing experience
  • At least 5 years Brand management experience
