Branch Manager (Ship Chandling) - Northern Mozambique - Job ID 3837 We have an exciting position available for a dynamic Branch Manager with experience in ship chandling/ship management/supply. This is an executive role reporting directly to the Group MD and Country manager. The group of companies has been growing consistently for a number of years and they have ambitious plans for further expansion over the next 2 to 5 years. The Branch Manager will support the expected growth of the business in Mozambique by structuring and further developing the business. The Mozambican entity is a service company involved in the Energy sector in the supply chain, offshore and onshore. It deals with both food and industrial goods. The Branch Manager will be responsible for developing the activities of the subsidiary by implementing the group commercial strategy as well as ensuring a smooth and robust ground operation out of the local facility. Not only does the group operate in various other industries, but they also have a footprint in many African countries which offers further room for personal growth. Position details: Type:Permanent
Reports to: Group MD and Country manager
Reporting, total staff compliment: 10-15 Key areas of responsibility: 1. Operations Management Ensure optimal client satisfaction: - Ensure positive client relationships, entertaining all client requests / issues arising from operations. - Supply chain coordination, local and international procurement with group entities and third parties. - Ensure complete and on time order deliveries. - Establish and implements logistics planification. - Ensure the compliance to all statutory obligations. 2. Management a. Responsible of the overall business units/branchxe2x80x99s profitability across the various activities including: - Budget control. - P&L monitoring. b. HR - Assist with necessary recruitment to ensure optimal and profitable service delivery. - Participate in regular personal evaluations / KPI appraisals. - With CM, manage absenteeism, poor performance and any HR related issues. - Stay within the Mozambican legislation. 3. Warehouse and Stock management - Implementation of group processes; strict daily, weekly, monthly inventory management. - Ensuring teamxe2x80x99s adherence to processes and stock levels always matching ERP data. - Define and implement optimal warehouse management and organisation. - Ensure cold chain is preserved and adherence to food health regulations international best practices. 4. Commercial Development - Promotion of all the product ranges. - Commercial follow up to develop sales. - Planification with the team of commercial actions and reporting on results. 5. Infrastructure Management and Control - Management and maintenance of the assets: warehouse, cold rooms, racking, plant equipment, vehicles. - Select and manage the service providers needed to ensure suitable preventive maintenance to avoid down time on any equipment. - Special care to refrigeration units to avoid break down and down time. Location: Northern Mozambique Job Qualifications, Skills & Experience: - Tertiary education. - Speaks fluent English, willing to learn Portuguese (current Portuguese understanding/capability would be advantageous). - Demonstrated experience (5 years+) in supply chain management, export, shipping (vessel management -and operation/ship chandling/supply). - Experience in food industry preferable. - Successful previous experience in an African country (outside South Africa). - Ability to establish and manage processes. - Communicate well on all levels. - Solution provider and resourceful. - Efficient and effective individual. - Commercial skills. - Management skills. - Ability to find solutions that work in a specific local environment (located in Northern Mozambique with little infrastructure).
