You will join our team in Johannesburg working for our hub in the UK, Monahans, a trusted regional accountancy firm and proud to be part of Sumer, a growing group of local firms backed by national strength. The role will be fully office-based for the first three months in our Johannesburg office to support a smooth onboarding process, with the option to transition to a hybrid working arrangement thereafter.

Key Responsibilities

As a Bookkeeper, you'll deliver high-quality bookkeeping, VAT, and management accounting services for a diverse portfolio of clients.Manage a portfolio of bookkeeping and VAT clients, aligned to your level. Prepare monthly or quarterly management accounts, including accruals, prepayments, and depreciation. Input and reconcile data, process payments, and ensure clear, organised working papers. Liaise directly with clients to meet deadlines and manage expectations.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

You'll be an experienced and proactive bookkeeper with strong communication skills and a commercial mindset. You enjoy supporting others and delivering a great client experience.

SAIPA/ACCA qualified with a demonstrable track record of accounts experience in an accountancy practice Experience in bookkeeping and VAT (ideally within practice). Confident preparing management accounts with clear supporting schedules. Skilled in Xero, QuickBooks Online, Excel, and other accounting systems. Strong time management and interpersonal skills; able to work independently and flexibly across sites. Experience in property finance or sector-specific bookkeeping (desirable but not essential).
