Bookkeeper Intern
Job Description
Summary of the position:
Spier Arts Trust has embarked upon a project whereby it will offer an Internship within the Finance Department, in order to assist with expediting its service delivery and also to enable the Intern to obtain the necessary skills and knowledge in the finance area in the Art Business.
Area of delivery
Daily capturing of customers and suppliers from cash book to trial balance
Create Income Statements
Cash Flow Statements
Incorporate General Ledger Accounts in the Financial Statements
Processing journals
Transfer report data from an income statement to a spreadsheet
Transfer report data from a balance sheet to a spreadsheet
Assist with the preparation of financial statements for presentation to management
Use data to calculate various items including:
Gross profit percentage
Net profit percentage
Rate of profitability on total capital investment
Stock turnover
Average collection period of debtors
Debtors turnover
Average payment of debtors
Participate and complete year-end procedures which include:
Analyse and interpret financial statements
Preparation and submission of internal and external financial statements to management and for publication
- Analyse subsidiary journals, general ledger, wages and salaries journals, debtors and creditors accounts, monthly statements with analysis
- Draw up cash and analyse budgets
- Be able to evaluate various software packages for auditing purposes, for accounting purposes
Diploma in accounting/finance
Working knowledge of Pastel Partner
Proficient in excel
Debtors and creditors reconciliation experience required
Able to work independently
Good team player
High attention to detail and high level of accuracy
Good problem-solving techniques
Deadline driven
