What are we looking for?
We are looking for someone with the following experience, qualifications and /or skillsets:
Grade 12
2 years' experience in a similar environment
The responsibilities are:
Governance
Ensure relationships are managed effectively with all key stakeholders which include but not limited to: suppliers, internal departments, external authorities, etc.
Ensure reporting on agreed frequencies is undertaken accordingly, this includes but not limited to incident reports, financial reports, compliance reports, management reports etc.
Monitor and ensure adherence to policies and procedures of Facilities
Provide effective leadership of learners
Promoting the image of the residential program within the school community.
Placement
Ensuring learners are placed as per floor plan
Act as a Member of Hostel Committee, Disciplinary Committee when required
Ensure effective and efficient reporting is done timeously
Liaise with staff, parents, with respect to matters pertaining maintenance, learners in School and Hostel
Compiling and forwarding requests for transfer, cancellation of rooms to Booking Officers
Controlling of the hostels' administration and inventories daily
Assist in the coordination of residence activities
Hostel Learner Supervision and Welfare
Act in loco parentis and therefore responsible for all aspects of the learner welfare in the hostel
Ensuring the general wellbeing of the hostel learner
Keeping of the Hostel Register as per floor plan
Ensuring, enforcing, and checking of cleanliness, neatness and hygienic behaviour of learners when attending school
Granting permission for the hostel learner to leave the premises as per register
Administering the visitation times and visitors.
Liaison with Hostel Office/ Sick Bay in case of emergency
Organize, initiate, and facilitate entertainment and recreation for the boarders.
Monitor, assist and communicate the academic progress of students
Monitoring of hostel learner's appearance before leaving for school as stated in policy
Assisting when learners had to be taken for medical appointments.
Ensuring that students do not change rooms without valid authorization.
Implement and ensure adherence to Hostel rules and policies
Learner Discipline
Periodically reading out of Hostel and Code of Conduct to Learners
Explaining to Learners the Demerits system
Timeously reporting to the Hostel Office of the misconduct of Learners
Keeping the records of Learners on Community service and ensuring that the do go for their duties
Processing of Learners demerit process and misconducts at the Hostel
Assets and Maintenance
Daily checking of any damages in the hostel
If any damages correctly filling out documentation and hand in timeously
Recording of documents issued out
Following-up of documents not done when cycle period has passed
Recording of damages to be charged to Learners account.
Keeping the asset register of the Hostel
Daily Duties
Reporting for duties as per schedules and adhering to daily duties thereof
Responsible and supervising the Hostel daily, evening and on weekends
Invigilating at night study time
Manage Hostel Leaders
Monitor and verify timesheets of Hostel Leaders and provide reports thereof
Participation in monthly room verification
Conduct random checks in the Rooms
Assist with overseeing day-to-day operations of the hostel
Executing evening, weekend and or Hostel weekend activities
Communicating residential issues to the administrative team.
Attend and coordinate relevant meeting
Ensuring to daily adherence of cleanliness in the Hostel
Managing of keys
Conducting laundry processes
The successful candidate will start on
01 January 2026.
