Job Title: Automotive Spare Parts Salesman
Reports To: Sales Manager / Parts Manager
Job Type: Full-time
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Automotive Spare Parts Salesman to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for selling a wide range of automotive spare parts and accessories to customers, including workshops, dealerships, and individual vehicle owners. This role requires excellent product knowledge, strong sales skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales and Customer Service:
Proactively engage with customers in person, over the phone, and via email to identify their spare parts needs.
Provide expert advice and recommendations on appropriate parts and accessories for various vehicle makes and models.
Process sales orders accurately and efficiently, including invoicing and payment collection.
Build and maintain strong customer relationships to foster repeat business and loyalty.
Address customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints promptly and professionally, escalating issues when necessary.
Product Knowledge and Inventory Management:
Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the full range of automotive spare parts and accessories, including their applications, specifications, and compatibility.
Stay updated on new products, industry trends, and competitor offerings.
Assist with inventory management, including receiving, stocking, and organizing parts.
Conduct regular stock checks and report any discrepancies or low stock levels.
Ensure accurate cataloguing and display of parts.
Administrative and Operational Support:
Maintain accurate sales records and customer databases.
Prepare quotations and sales reports as required.
Assist with general showroom and warehouse tidiness and organization.
Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including health and safety regulations.
Target Achievement:
Work towards achieving individual and team sales targets and objectives.
Identify opportunities for upselling and cross-selling.
Qualifications and Experience:
Education:
Matric/Grade 12 (essential).
A relevant technical qualification in automotive mechanics or parts sales would be advantageous.
Experience:
Minimum of 2-3 years of proven experience in automotive spare parts sales or a related field.
Prior experience with various vehicle brands (e.g., European, Asian, American) is a plus.
Knowledge:
In-depth knowledge of automotive systems and components.
Familiarity with various parts catalogs and identification systems.
Understanding of the automotive aftermarket industry in South Africa.
Skills:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written).
Strong sales and negotiation abilities.
Customer service-oriented with a professional and friendly demeanor.
Proficient in computer systems, including MS Office Suite and sales/inventory software.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Problem-solving skills.
Valid South African driver's license (advantageous).
