Automation & Production Technician / Millwright / Robomechanics

Job Description

To ensure optimal uptime, efficiency, and output of automated production lines through proactive maintenance, hands-on technical problem-solving, and daily production oversight. This role combines advanced electromechanical maintenance (Millwright) and robotic systems knowledge (Robomechanics) with practical production leadership responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform hands-on maintenance and troubleshooting on automated machinery, robotics, and electromechanical systems.
  • Lead breakdown recovery efforts and execute root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
  • Monitor and improve the performance of automated lines, including cycle times, uptime, and output quality.
  • Collaborate with production planning and quality teams to ensure daily production targets are met.
  • Execute and improve planned preventative maintenance schedules for automation equipment.
  • Maintain PLCs, sensors, servos, and HMI systems in accordance with OEM and internal standards.
  • Participate in process optimisation initiatives, working alongside engineering and continuous improvement teams.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance and production-related activities and downtimes.
  • Train operators on correct use and basic care of automated systems.
  • Support installation and commissioning of new automated equipment when necessary.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Recognised Millwright trade qualification (Red Seal preferred).
  • Certification or demonstrated experience in Robomechanics or Mechatronics.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience working in a production environment with a high degree of automation.
  • Proven hands-on ability to fault-find and repair electro-mechanical and robotic systems.
  • Familiarity with PLC systems (e.g. Siemens, Allen Bradley) and industrial networking (Ethernet/IP, Profinet).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, drives, and conveyors.
  • Experience working under pressure in a fast-paced, KPI-driven manufacturing environment.
