Our client requires the services of a Software Engineer (Senior) Midrand/Menlyn/Rosslyn/Home Office rotation

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
  • IT degree or similar qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role
  • Experience working in an enterprise environment
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes, including incident, change, and problem management
  • Experience with project management and/or IT provider steering
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience with database systems, including administration, design, and integration
  • Experience with SQL and a solid understanding of relational database concepts
  • Proficiency with IT configuration management processes and tools (CMDB)
  • Basic enterprise IT network know-how
  • Capacity to interpret business needs and implement solutions
  • Effective stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Self-motivated and able to work in a team
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality work on time
ADVANTAGEOUS SKILLS:
  • Experience in IT infrastructure operations or IT application operations
  • Experience working with enterprise IT network technologies, e.g. IP networks, routing, switching etc.
  • Experience with IT orchestration & automation solutions, e.g. Rundeck, Ansible
  • Experience with Business Intelligence and data visualization tools (e.g. AWS Quicksight)
  • Experience in designing and optimizing user interfaces and workflows for database systems
  • Experience with common data formats, e.g. YAML, JSON
  • Experience in managing the integration of database systems, including data flow management
  • Understanding of various database technologies, e.g. relational (OracleDB) and non-relational (Splunk, Elasticsearch)
  • Understanding of Cloud computing principles
  • Experience with Agile Working methods (e.g. Scrum)
  • Programming skills, preferably in Python (e.g. to transform and share data between databases)
  • Experience with restful APIs
  • Experience in improving system operations and reputation
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues / users
  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations
  • Ability to identify and implement ways to reduce complexity
  • Skills in coordinating between internal teams and external service providers
  • Proficiency in providing business context and direction for system updates and maintenance
  • Ability to improve communication and coordination between different parties involved in the system's operation
  • Experience performing Operational Management duties such as long-term planning to create initiatives that further the overall goals
ROLE:
  • Support the global IT network operations teams at the GROUP Group by equipping them with the appropriate tools, standards, and processes for highly automated configuration management in IT Network Operations
  • Contribute to the evolution of config management processes and databases (CMDBs) for IT network infrastructure in collaboration with our internal and external interface partners
  • Plan the integration and data flows between multiple CMDBs and network management systems
  • Advance automated discovery processes (network device inventory) and automatic documentation of assets
  • Develop and enhance reporting solutions to extract insights from existing network infrastructure data (e.g., for capacity, lifecycle, or problem management)
  • Engage regularly with stakeholders: comprehend their requirements, and advise them on how to best utilize the available solutions
  • Manage problems, changes, and incidents
  • Establish and uphold internal controls that mitigate business risk while adhering to policy and procedures
  • Display flexibility in undertaking various tasks within a project or work
  • Be prepared and willing to travel internationally for periods up to 2 weeks
  • Take the initiative to suggest solutions that enhance the support of new business processes
