About the Role
Our client is looking for a hands-on Automation & AI Developer who can architect and implement advanced automation systems and intelligent AI agents. This person will sit at the intersection of operations, marketing, and technology -- helping build scalable, smart workflows that streamline how the business operates.
You'll design and develop AI-driven automations, integrate APIs, and connect data across tools like HubSpot, Zapier, and OpenAI. You'll also experiment with emerging AI frameworks to build custom agents that support real-world business functions.

Key Responsibilities
AI Development & Automation Systems
Design, build, and deploy custom AI agents and automations to optimize workflows and data handling.
Create and manage integrations between platforms (HubSpot, OpenAI, Zapier, Make, etc.) using APIs or low-code/no-code tools.
Build automation logic for marketing, sales, and operations -- enabling smarter, faster processes.
Research, test, and implement new AI frameworks or tools to improve performance and productivity.
Monitor, troubleshoot, and continuously optimize automations for speed, accuracy, and reliability.
HubSpot CRM Development
Own and optimize HubSpot architecture, including pipelines, data flows, and automation rules.
Build dynamic workflows for lead capture, nurturing, scoring, and lifecycle management.
Develop dashboards and reporting systems that deliver automated insights.
Maintain data integrity and system consistency across teams and tools.
Collaboration & Documentation
Work closely with marketing, operations, and leadership to identify automation opportunities.
Document technical processes and maintain internal knowledge bases for automation systems.
Support team members with technical training and troubleshooting as needed.

Technical & Professional Skills
Proven experience building AI-powered automations, chatbots, or agents (OpenAI, LangChain, or similar).
Strong understanding of API integrations and data flow between platforms.
Hands-on experience with HubSpot automation and workflow creation (HubSpot certifications preferred).
Proficiency with tools like Zapier, Make (Integromat), or equivalent automation platforms.
Working knowledge of JavaScript, Python, or other scripting languages (a big plus).
Experience in a marketing agency or fast-paced digital environment is advantageous.
Comfortable working remotely and aligning with Eastern Time Zone hours.
Bonus Points
Familiarity with vector databases or prompt engineering for AI applications.
Background in data analytics, digital marketing, or tech operations.
A strong interest in building scalable, AI-driven systems that make real business impact.
Location Preference
We are focusing on candidates based in South Africa, though strong applicants from other regions who can align with Eastern Time Zone hours are welcome to apply.
