About the Position
This special project aims to review and inspect the population of taxpayer accounts that were impaired during the 2023/24 financial year, as indicated in the SARS Annual Report. The project will guide the relevant business units in concluding these accounts, either by reinstating them for further collection actions or writing them off. We are seeking candidates with in-depth knowledge of the SARS Tax Administration Act (TAAct) and other relevant tax legislation.
Job Purpose
To independently plan and conduct complex audits across multiple tax types, multiple periods with multiple risks, understanding the risk implications across other tax types, in compliance with all legislative requirements.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough reviews of impaired taxpayer accounts in line with SARS guidelines.
  • Apply knowledge of the SARS TAAct to determine account resolutions and compliance.
  • Liaise with business units to facilitate decisions on account reinstatement or write-off.
  • Provide technical support and expertise in tax matters to ensure accurate reporting and decision-making.
  • Prepare detailed reports and documentation outlining the findings of the review process.
  • Collaborate with various teams to ensure the effective resolution of impaired accounts.
  • Advise and guide business units on tax compliance matters and regulations.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree / Advanced Diploma (NQF 7) in Audit / Accounting / Debt Management / similar with 5 - 7 years' experience in an Audit / Debt environment, of which 2 - 3 years at a technically skilled level.
Minimum Qualification & Experience Required
Senior Certificate (NQF 4) with 10 years Audit / Debt Management experience, of which 2 - 3 years at a technically skilled level. Must have knowledge and experience of the Taact and other relevant tax legislation.
