Reporting to Senior audit manager on overall economy, efficiency, and effectiveness of audit team.
To attend to monthly staff planning in accordance with monthly targets and client requests.
To allocate audit files based on knowledge and experience
Lead full-cycle audit engagements for a portfolio of clients, managing scope, timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
Serve as the primary client liaison, presenting observations, addressing queries, and building long-term relationships.
To supervise and ensure that all audit files are prepared in terms of accounting, auditing standards and firm methodologies.
Review and validate workpapers, financial statements, and audit findings prepared by staff.
To ensure all review queries are cleared before the audit file can be signed off.
To attend to all partner queries on audit files
To identify audit and company/industry related risks
Monitor engagement profitability and maintain audit quality through adherence to internal policies and external regulations.
Performing audit de-brief meetings advising audit supervisors, audit seniors and trainees about their progress for their respective clients
To meet with clients when requested
To conduct technical research on complex matters and file supporting evidence
Coordinate staff planning and resource allocation.
Add insightful recommendations that enhance controls and business performance.
To manage staff sent on secondment.
Responsible for SAICA assessment procedures
To supervise and manage all trainees that report to you by obtaining regular feedback regarding the progress of their current audit files.
To provide feedback regarding work performance for all trainees
To authorise timesheets, leave, travel claims, overtime for trainees
Person Specification:
Education and Qualifications
Postgraduate/ higher degree (Honours/ Masters) in BCOM Accounting
Qualified Chartered Accountant
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
Essential Knowledge, skills, and experience
A Minimum of 6 -8 years' experience in a financial/auditing environment (including SAICA traineeship)
3 -5 years' experience of management/ supervision role (post articles, audit supervisor and up)
Understands basic financial management and has experience with managing budgets
Excellent IT skills, including experience with MS Office and Draftworx audit software.
Ability to work well under pressure.
Own transport and a valid driver's license.
Understands and is able to apply the International Standards on Auditing and local audit regulations
Understands and is able to apply Financial reporting frameworks such as IFRS.
Understands and is able to apply principles of risk assessment, internal control and corporate governance
Understands and is able to apply taxation fundamentals affecting audit outcomes
Understands and is able to apply industry-specific accounting and operational practices
Ability to utilise audit software tools and data analytics techniques
Leadership and team management, including coaching and performance feedback
Advanced analytical and critical-thinking abilities
