MASTER OF DEVELOPMENT IN PLANNING AND MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR/ SENIOR LECTURER REQUIREMENTS:
PhD or Doctoral Degree in Development Studies and/or Development Planning and
Management or Development Economics or Community Development Studies.
Areas of expertise: Research Methods (Qualitative and Quantitative, including Statistics),
Local and Regional Economics/Economic Development and Project Planning and Management.
A minimum of six years teaching experience at tertiary level (in the case of Associate
Professor), or four years teaching experience at tertiary level (in the case of Senior Lecturer). Postgraduate Teaching experience will an advantage.
Evidence of relevant peer-reviewed publications (at least five articles in the case of
Associate Professor)
Proven track record of supervision to completion at Masters Level, and up to Doctoral
Level (for Associate Professor).
Demonstrated experience of community engagement and/or capacity for generating third
stream income.
Practical working experience in the Developmental sector will be an added advantage.
Duties: The incumbent will be required to:
Teach at least two of the following areas: Research Methods, Local and Regional
Economic Development and Project Planning and Management
Conduct research and supervise at Masters Level
Publish in peer-reviewed journals
Develop curriculum and course materials
Undertake community engagement activities
Participate in school and faculty committees
Perform other tasks as are reasonably incidental to this position.
