ROLE DESCRIPTION:
This position is for an experienced Associate Investment Consultant with a respected Asset Consultant Company.
PURPOSE OF JOB:
This is a client-facing position, providing a high standard of client service to a range of large, sophisticated institutional asset owners which include pension and provident funds, medical aids and trusts. Deliverables will range from day-to-day managing of client expectations, coordinating delivery of various services to clients, continuous monitoring of the client's portfolio and regular client communication through report-back presentations. The role is investment-related adn requires the employee to apply investment knowledge and thinking in their daily tasks. The role supports the Investment Consultants and/or Senior Investment Consultants in providing a professional and quality service to institutional clients.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES, or MONTHLY/DAILY TASKS:
Gain a thorough understanding of client requirements, plan for delivery and then project manage the deliverables for client deadlines.
Support Senior Consultants in client engagement and delivery by performing a range of required investment and client service-related tasks, including:
Creating meeting action item notes
Preparing presentations and attending client meetings
Coordinating and preparing client output
Performing investment-related calculations and analysis
Checking investment reports and returns for accuracy
Considering client investment strategy and monitoring alignment of client porfolio with strategy, tactical views, and regulations
Ad hoc team-related outputs
Administrative, operational and record-keeping tasks
Key client contact for day-to-day requirements
Produce a variety of outputs for clients as defined in the client requirements. Outputs can be technical, administrative, qualitative and operational in nature.
Collaborate with other Consultants to strategize on client deliverables, ensure best quality solutions and plan for deliverables and timelines.
Collaborate and engage with colleagues in other departments to request work deliverables, to access information and to gain support for task completion.
Gaining, maintaining and enhancing an in-depth understanding of investments and markets.
When required, present at internal and external meetings, including being able to step in a stand-alone capacity at a client meeting, to present and run a client report-back or training session, if required on an ad-hoc basis.
As a consulting team member:
Collaborate with the Consulting Operations manager and Head of Consulting to create frameworks, methodologies and process for consulting
Contribute ideas for special projects to enhance consulting work and participate in projects (both internal and client projects) when required
Stay current with AI developments relevant to the role and consulting more broadly, and share insights with team members
Together with senior members, drive AI integration and process enhancement in the broader Consulting team. This includes, but is not limited to, attending company AI sessions, providing updates to the Consulting team, and supporting the Head of Consulting with related initiatives.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Preferably B.Com. or equivalent with a focus on investment studies/finance/similar
Other tertiary qualifications may be considered, depending on experience and evidence of investment-related knowledge, adaptability and interests
FAIS Compliant Representative (RE5) strongly advantageous. Minimum requirement is to obtain the RE5 qualification within 1 year from the date of appointment
CFA, CFP or similar, or studying towards these qualifications, is advantageous
Relevant investment industry experience (multi-management / consulting / asset management)
Client servicing and client relationship experience
Minimum 5-7 years of relevant investment industry experience
Solid technical understanding and knowledge of investments and markets, and practical experience in the application thereof in a working role across tasks
Time management and project management in a multi-faceted, multi-dimensional role that regularly requires a fast but accurate working pace and rapid switching between outputs
Excellent working knowledge of MS Office suite
Performance analysis and calculation experience is highly advantageous
Experience using or implementing AI tools for investment-related work is highly advantageous
