Assistant Manager - Richards Bay Port Operations

Purpose:

To support the Office Manager in overseeing daily port operations, including road, rail, and vessel monitoring activities, while ensuring compliance with company procedures and client requirements. The Assistant Manager will coordinate operational teams, verify data accuracy, manage logistics, and assist with staff supervision to maintain efficient and secure operations across all client sites.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in supervising office and field staff, ensuring efficient work allocation and adherence to procedures. Support coordination of roving teams for stockpile, skip, and rail monitoring activities. Oversee and assist with rail audits, train offloading, and vessel loading operations. Support vehicle maintenance scheduling and documentation. Help manage operational communication between clients, inspectors, and management. Ensure accurate data recording on operational systems. Assist with onboarding, performance reviews, and rostering of staff. Monitor compliance with health, safety, and client-specific requirements.

Requirements:

Grade 12 or equivalent qualification. Valid driver's license and clear criminal record. Computer literacy (MS Excel, Word, Outlook). Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills. Ability to supervise, delegate, and resolve operational challenges effectively. Knowledge of port, rail, and logistics operations is advantageous. PSIRA grade C or higher
