Job Summary
Assistant Maintenance Manager | Luxury Hotel | Cape Town
Salary: R24,000 per month, negotiable depending on experience
Kendrick Recruitment is currently seeking a skilled and experienced Assistant Maintenance Manager for a luxury hotel based in Cape Town. This position is ideal for a hands-on, technically skilled individual with a strong background in facilities management and hotel maintenance operations.
Minimum Requirements:
Relevant technical qualification or trade certification preferred
Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a similar role within a 4/5-star hospitality environment
Strong knowledge of building systems, electrical, plumbing, air conditioning, and general maintenance
Experience in managing preventative and reactive maintenance schedules
Good understanding of health and safety regulations
Proficiency in MS Office and maintenance software/systems
Excellent communication and leadership skills
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays if required
Highly organised, with strong problem-solving and time management abilities
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the Maintenance Manager in overseeing all maintenance operations and ensuring that the hotel infrastructure is kept in excellent working condition
Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the maintenance team
Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with hotel standards
Monitor and respond to maintenance requests from other departments in a timely manner
Support the implementation of preventative maintenance programs for all hotel facilities and equipment
Conduct routine inspections of guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces, and systems
Maintain records of maintenance work, repairs, and inspections
Liaise with external contractors and suppliers as required
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
Support in training and mentoring junior maintenance staff
Provide technical support during special projects, renovations, or hotel upgrades
