Job Description

Assistant Guest House & Marketing Manager A 19 bedroom Guest House in the Southern Drakensberg is looking for a professional Assistant Guest House & Marketing Manager. The Assistant Guest House & Marketing Manager, with previous experience in a high-end service delivery environment, will assist the General Manager in creating a high standard and welcoming environment for the property’s guest.
Duties will include the following:

  • Ensuring a high standard of service through all service areas (hosting, housekeeping, etc.)
  • Checking in and out of Guests
  • Manage and oversee daily administrational matters (orders, Health and Safety, timesheets, rosters, etc.) and lodge staff. Basic knowledge of HR matters and procedures beneficial.
  • Hosting guests and ensuring that their stay meets both the guests and company’s expectation.
  • Maintain the smooth operation of the Guest House, facilities, infrastructure, services and functions
  • Daily and monthly bookkeeping, general administration, stock take and inventory control.
  • Communicate and report to General Manager and submit monthly reports.
  • Handle all marketing (including Facebook)
  • Bookings and Reservations. Replies to enquiries. Previous experience with Nightsbridge, Airbnb,, etc will be advantageous.
  • Manage relationships with suppliers and service providers.
  • Coordinate and manage large groups, logistics and activities.
  • Communicate all bookings and meal orders with the restaurant.

The Assistant Guest House & Marketing Manager should have a positive out-going personality and should be guest orientated and service minded, with a strong work ethic and ability to work under pressure. The successful candidate should have a strong eye for detail, hands on and pro-active. Ability to interact well with Clients. Strong Admin and Computer Skills. Excellent all-rounder, capable of fitting in where necessary to ensure the operation runs smoothly and efficiently.
The candidate should have a passion for nature and should be willing to live and work in a remote area.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Reborn Christian
  • Relevant Hospitality Management qualification is a strong advantage but not essential if experienced in the industry
  • Fluency in English (with Afrikaans being beneficial)
  • Minimum of two years (preferably more) in similar position or in the hospitality industry in South Africa. Preferably also International experience and exposure to International clientele (understanding different cultures and their respective needs).
  • Excellent customer care skills
  • Good time management and reliability
  • Must have driver’s license and own vehicle
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Office)
  • Candidate should be a South African citizen
Salary Package:
  • R7000 basic per month plus commission (negotiable)
  • Accommodation (single) with small kitchen, bedroom and bathroom.
  • Work laptop and cellphone.
  • 2 Months’ probation.
  • Starting date: 1 December 2021.

Working hours:
  • Monday – Saturday (08:00 – 18:00)
  • Off day: Sunday
