Ivanhoe Mines Exploration is looking for a Assistant Group Financial Accountant

Ivanhoe Mines indirectly owns 64% of the Platreef Project through its subsidiary, Ivanplats, and is directing all mine development work. The South African beneficiaries of the approved broad-based, black economic empowerment structure have a 26% stake in the Platreef Project. The remaining 10% is owned by a Japanese consortium of ITOCHU Corporation; Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation; and Japan Gas Corporation.

The Platreef Project is a tier-one discovery of platinum-group metals, nickel, copper and gold by Ivanhoe Minesxe2x80x99 geologists on the Northern Limb of South Africaxe2x80x99s Bushveld Igneous Complex, the worldxe2x80x99s premier platinum producing region. Platreefxe2x80x99s commercial production is expected in 2024, with Shaft 2 now expected to be commissioned in 2027. The initial scope of the phased development plan is to fast-track Platreef into production, starting with an initial 700,000-tonne-per-annum (700-ktpa) underground mine using the existing Shaft 1 and a new on-site concentrator. Platreef is distinguished from other Bushveld projects by its remarkable combination of grade, thickness, geometry, scale and potential for significant nickel and copper by-product credits. Platfreef is projected to be Africaxe2x80x99s lowest-cost producer of platinum-group metals, nickel, copper and gold.

By contributing to the purpose of this role, which is to assume primary responsibilities for the preparation of the monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting deliverables, such as the Group and KHL consolidations and related financial statements together with the associated tasks. You will have the following:

CA(SA)- Newly qualified
Completion of SAICA accredited articles preferably at a "Big 4" firm
Successful complementation of the Initial Test of Competence and assessment of Professional Competence examinations administered by SAICA.

Preferably you will have:

Being a CA(SA).

You will have advanced skills and knowledge in:

• Mining industry knowledge would be advantageous
• Knowledge of consolidations and group financial reporting would be preferable

Technical Skills should include:

• Newly qualified CA(SA)

• Ability to work independently to the extent required of a newly qualified CA
• Ability to prioritized workload to ensure that deadlines are met
• Ability to work well under pressure
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
• Ability to work within a multinational team and to coordinate with the team to ensure deliverables are submitted in a timeous manner
• Attention to detail

Your Key Performance Activities will include but not limited to:

• Primarily responsible for the preparation of the group consolidation and the joint venture consolidation on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
• Preparation of the statutory financial statements of subsidiaries and joint ventures.
• Review of monthly reporting packs submitted by subsidiary accounting teams.
• Coordination of quarterly and annual external audits (group and subsidiaries)
• Monitoring of treasury balances and maintenance of related bank accounts.
• Preparation of surveys issued by Statistics Canada and the South African Reserve Bank
