Job Description

A well-established financial services provider that specialises in alternative finance solutions, including but not limited to asset-backed financing, purchase order funding, invoice discounting, and property bridging finance. The Assistant Financial Manager will support the Senior Financial Manager in maintaining the financial health of the organisation. This role includes responsibility for budgeting and forecasting, financial reporting, cash flow management, internal controls, and team support
Area: Centurion
Working Hours: Monday - Friday 07:30- 17:00
Minimum Requirements

  • SAIPA or SAICA membership (South Africa) and/or CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) - in progress
  • 2-5 years of relevant experience in:
  • Financial reporting
  • Budgeting and forecasting
  • Audit support
  • Financial systems
  • Strong understanding of financial regulations and tax laws
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, Sage)
  • Advanced Excel skills and financial modelling capabilities
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
Duties will include but not be limited to:
  • Financial Strategy & Planning
  • Support the Senior Financial Manager in designing and executing financial strategies aligned with business goals
  • Assist in developing key financial metrics, trends, and performance indicators to support data-driven decision-making
  • Financial Reporting & Compliance
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in line with IFRS and regulatory standards
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Support audit processes and ensure compliance with tax regulations and statutory requirements
  • Liaise with external auditors and tax consultants
  • Budgeting & Forecasting
  • Manage financial systems, reporting tools, and budget processes to drive efficiency and growth
  • Prepare financial forecasts, conduct variance analysis, and track overall financial performance
  • Risk Management & Internal Controls
  • Support the development and implementation of robust financial controls and policies
  • Identify financial risks and assist with implementing mitigation strategies
  • Ensure adherence to governance and internal control frameworks
  • Treasury & Cash Flow Management
  • Assist in cash flow planning to ensure optimal liquidity
  • Monitor treasury activities and report cash position regularly
  • Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Lead and mentor team members to foster a high-performance culture
  • Ensure the team is equipped with updated policies and aligned with the organisation's rapid growth
  • Contribute to succession planning and general team management
  • Transaction Oversight
  • Perform monthly reviews of active transactions based on data collected by the team
  • Present transaction updates and insights to executive stakeholders
  • Conduct ad hoc financial assessments of potential transactions for credit committee preparation
  • Participate in the development of internal software and tools to streamline processes
  • Provide proactive alerts to executives regarding transaction performance and risks
