Job Description

The incumbent will be required to provide electrical services and perform maintenance, repairs and replacements on all electrical systems, infrastructure and equipment, as well as assist the electrician in the repairing, maintenance and overhaul of electrical plant, equipment and installations in the properties of the Cape Peninsula University of Technology.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• Martic/Grade 12 certificate or equivalent
• Plumbing Competency Based Modular Training (CBMT) course
• At least one (1) years' experience in the plumbing environment
• At least one (1) years' experience in an electrical field
• Electrical trade test certificate
• Computer literacy (Ms Office suite)

Recommendation

• Driver's license Code 08

Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities

• Receive job card/schedule for electrical sites jobs such as repairs, electrical maintenance on faulty installations, equipment, and appliances.
• Conduct electrical tests and fault finding
• Insulation and installation of wires and conduits
• Installation of electrical plugs and wiring
• Installation of light switches and dimmers
• Fault finding of fused circuit breakers and replacement of blown circuit breakers
• Installation of new circuits on sub distribution boards
• Connect circuit breakers
• Installation of single phase and three phase electrical switches for stoves and washing machines
• Replacing specified fused light bulbs and globes
• Install, replace, and repair heaters
• Install, replace, and repair fans fans
• Inspection of installations - Report all defects & Monitor outstanding work by contractor
• Perform general electrical maintenance - Test for, locate and repair electrical malfunctions
• Maintain electrical networks on buildings, plant and equipment
• Installation of electrical plant and equipment
• Adhere to Safety and Housekeeping rules
• Safe keeping of work tools and materials
• Ensuring sub-contractors carry out work to meet set standards
• Perform other functions as may be assigned by the Maintenance Foreman or Maintenance Manager
