Job Description

Job Purpose




Provincial Treasury, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a suitably qualified and competent individual to assist departments and entities with the implementation of accounting frameworks and the compilation of financial information, reports and statements.

Minimum Requirements




An appropriate 3-year B-Degree (equivalent or higher qualification) in Financial Accounting or related 3; A minimum of 3 years relevant experience of accounting practices in a finance department; A valid (Code B or higher) driving licence.

Key Performance Areas




Provide support to departments and entities on the application of accounting frameworks; Compile, consolidate and table the Annual Consolidated Financial Statements (ACFS); Provide training regarding accounting standards and compilation of financial statements; Monitor compliance to accounting norms and standards, financial reporting guidelines in the provincial departments and entities; Performing Managerial functions

Competencies




Knowledge of the following: Legislation, the PFMA accounting frameworks GRAP, MCS, any other applicable accounting frameworks, policies and best practices that have a bearing on the line functions; Strong financial accounting background specifically in GRAP and MCS accounting frameworks; Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines; Attention to detail and good interpretation of numbers; Written and verbal communication skills; Good report writing skills; It will be advantageous to have a Post graduate qualification in accounting.

Remuneration



R 468 459 - R 561 894 per annum (Salary level 9)





Note on remuneration in addition service benefits or obligations for qualifying employees (medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc) are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.

Notes




Shortlisted candidates will be required to submit documentation for verification purposes and criminal record vetting. These candidates will be required to do a practical and attend interviews on a date and time determined by the department and may also be required to undergo competency assessments/proficiency tests. The selection process will be guided by the EE targets of the employing department.
