Job Description

Our client in the Hospitality industry is currently looking for an Assistant Chief Engineer, to oversee the maintenance and repair of building systems and equipment, prioritising safety, efficiency, and optimal functionality for both guests and colleagues, in Sea Point, Cape Town.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise maintenance and repair of building systems and equipment.
• Ensure safety, efficiency, and optimal functionality for guests and colleagues.
• Lead and supervise the maintenance team.
• Identify and address equipment malfunctions promptly.
• Coordinate and manage repairs for operational efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs.
• Demonstrate strong leadership and supervisory skills.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
• Utilise expertise in electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
• Stay informed about current building codes and regulations.
• Manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7+ years of experience in maintenance and engineering or a related field.
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Experience with electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
• Knowledge of current building codes and regulations.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and maintenance management software.
• Pay meticulous attention to detail.
• Experience with energy management systems and involvement in sustainability initiatives - advantageous.

• Up to R25 000 CTC per month (dependent on experience.)
