Job Description

An intimate lodge in the Greater Kruger area is seeking an experienced ASSISTANT CHEF to add to their culinary offering.
The successful candidate will support the Head Chef in delivering exceptional culinary experiences, ensuring quality, consistency, and efficiency in all kitchen operations.
Candidate Responsibilities:

  • Assist in daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and plating.
  • Support menu execution and the creation of high-quality dishes in line with the lodge's standards.
  • Maintain hygiene, cleanliness, and safety standards in the kitchen at all times.
  • Monitor stock levels, assist with ordering, and manage inventory efficiently.
  • Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth service during all meal periods.
  • Participate in training and development programs to enhance culinary skills.
  • Adhere to dietary requirements, special requests, and quality control procedures.
Candidate Requirements:
  • Previous experience as a chef or assistant chef, preferably in a lodge, hotel, or hospitality environment.
  • Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, food preparation, and presentation.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Passion for creating exceptional culinary experiences and attention to detail.
