Assistant Accountant - Contract Finance
KwaZulu Natal - South Africa
Our client is looking for an organised, analytical, and proactive Assistant Accountant to support the Finance Manager and keep the financial engine running smoothly. If you love turning data into meaningful insights, enjoy digging into reconciliations, and have a passion for keeping finances clean, clear, and compliant this role is for you. This role is initially a 3-month contract.
Key Responsibilities:

• Financial Accounting & Reporting

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records
• Prepare financial reports that support business decision-making
• Assist with month-end and year-end processes
• Contribute to annual budgeting and forecasting
• Perform reconciliations timeously and accurately
• Analyse sales and margin reports, highlighting risks or opportunities
• Support management teams with detailed financial analysis
• Manage company costs and provide insightful cost analysis
• Oversee company assets and fleet
• Manage and analyse stock levels and movement

• Stock Take Support

• Assist branches with stock counting processes
• Ensure accurate processing and reporting related to stock takes

• General Responsibilities

• Take on additional tasks as needed
• Maintain a polished, professional image within all interactions
• Work collaboratively across teams

Key Requirements:

• Matric
• Bachelor of Commerce degree
• SAP an added advantage
• 35 years experience in a similar role
• Solid understanding of statutory requirements
• Good working knowledge of taxation
• A self-starter with strong organisational skills
• Excellent communication and people skills
• Meticulous attention to detail
• Strong numerical accuracy
• Ability to work independently and within a team
• Reliable and punctual
• Willingness to work overtime when required
